Booking and Payment Terms
Cancellation
Sjøtunet is a family-run smallholding that depends on stable bookings and is therefore particularly vulnerable to late changes. The following terms apply to cancellation and changes to bookings:
In the event of cancellation or modification from the time of booking up to 30 days prior to arrival, a cancellation fee of 5% of the booking amount will be charged.
In the event of cancellation less than 30 days prior to arrival, the full booking amount will be charged.
The guest is responsible for holding valid travel insurance and for ensuring that arrival and departure dates are correct. In the event of a reduction in the number of guests within a booking, the same cancellation terms apply as for the original booking.
Cancellations must be submitted in writing by email to post@sjotunet.no or via the dedicated link provided on the website.
Force Majeure / Limitation of Liability
Sjøtunet is not liable for any loss, costs, or inconvenience resulting from circumstances beyond Sjøtunet’s control, including but not limited to weather conditions, road closures, tunnel closures, or other infrastructural disruptions.
If such circumstances make it impossible or unsafe to carry out the stay, Sjøtunet reserves the right to cancel the booking. In such cases, Sjøtunet is not liable for any direct or indirect costs incurred by the guest.
Payment Terms
A booking is considered binding once payment has been completed. The cancellation terms remain fully applicable regardless of payment status.
Cleaning
If end-of-stay cleaning has not been booked and the accommodation is left without satisfactory self-cleaning being carried out, a cleaning fee will be charged without further notice.
Damage and Liability
The guest is financially responsible for any damage caused to cabins, furniture, or other equipment during the stay.
Safety and Personal Belongings
Sjøtunet and the surrounding area in Hardanger are generally considered safe. However, guests are advised to lock their accommodation when not in use and to maintain valid travel insurance with full coverage. Sjøtunet accepts no responsibility for loss, damage, or theft of guests’ personal belongings.
Animals, Nature and Leash Requirements
Sjøtunet and neighbouring farms keep animals such as sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, cows, and ducks. In addition, deer and small game are present in the surrounding natural areas.
Guests are required to comply with the statutory leash requirement for dogs from 1 April to 20 August. Breach of leash regulations may result in fines, imprisonment, and in severe cases, euthanasia of the dog.
Personal Data
When booking via www.sjotunet.no, the following personal data is stored: name, address, contact details, and any additional information provided in connection with the booking.
The purpose of processing this data is to manage and fulfil the booking. Guests may at any time request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal data, except where retention is required for active bookings or by law.
Personal data is not used for marketing purposes without the guest’s explicit consent.
Sjøtunet AS does not sell personal data to third parties, and personal data is not shared, exchanged, or disclosed unless there is a legal basis or valid consent.
